Request For: College All Sports
Request Title: Early recruiting
Description
I consider the recruiting the most exciting and important part of the college game.
I would like to implement early recruiting for a week at the midpoint of the season. A week break from games but just one round of recruiting for early transfers or recruits that will enter school early. It would be a different set of recruits that still wouldn’t be on their new team until after the season is over.

Category: New Feature
Status: Declined (last updated Jan 31 17:30:35 2020 )
Priority: Declined

Admin Notes
I share the opinion of coaches who voted against this - certainly realistic but would not really add to the game.

Stephen Thompson (Jan 9 12:07:56 2020 ): I guess my question is how this would fundamentally improve the game? I mean, we could have it where recruiting is going on all season long, which is how things work in real life. We could have assistant coaches that we have to hire who have different levels of coaching, development, and recruiting. There are lots of things we could do to make recruiting match the real life process ... but the question that must be answered is: how does that improve gameplay? I think having a specific recruiting period of the season is a fair compromise, so at the moment I'm voting against this. I'm open to changing my vote when hear a fuller explanation.
Rob Larocque (Jan 9 14:06:23 2020 ): I agree with Ron that recruiting is an exciting part of the game, and any addition to, or improvement of, will always be given a thumbs up from me. I just don’t see how this change can be implemented without changing the whole recruiting setup, but Im not a programmer. I also see the point made by Stephen. Im a yes because I love recruiting.
Coach Shers (Jan 10 12:01:35 2020 ): I like the idea of more recruiting and/or more strategy with recruiting and resources. But if you took the current system of visits and orders this would be problematic. The prestige 20 schools would dominate every phase of the recruiting
Keefe Cullen (Jan 11 23:35:02 2020 ): Recruiting really is the most fun time. This might be a nice change.
Luke McCann (Jan 13 20:24:31 2020 ): I am for it, I think it would bring more interest to the regular a season. Regular season, especially before regular conference starts....can be a bit dull at times. Lots of kids transfer in real life early in the year, so if transfers could happen in our league, we could have a small list of transfer recruits available to sign mid-season. How do we determine who is a mid-season transfer would be the key question to this though. I am open and think it would add more interest to the regular season. I do think if you decided to pursue a mid season transfer recruit, the points should come out of your budget for the year. I.E- Your recruiting budget does not replenish if you recruit a transfer kid.
Just Oz (Jan 22 05:19:38 2020 ): For me: Pros -- Recruiting is fun. Cons -- For those of us who have CCEL as a secondary game we play who enjoy a smaller footprint (recruit, set, forget) then this adds a burden. In other words, it will help people who are already good and strongly focused on the game to enjoy it more. It won't help people who like to play it casually or who are new to the game. Do these players get an extra training as well? If you were going to implement this then for players signing, they should get additional training as well which again is going to help the higher end schools.
