Request For: Pro and College Basketball
Request Title: Box&1 without matchups specified
Description Looking at this box score from CBEL yesterday, I think Box & 1 is broken if matchups are not specified.
http://dolphinsim.com/cbasket/cbel/day039/box007.htm
From the Basket help pages: "In double-man or box-and-1, the player receiving the special attention is determined by the first matchup from your matchup list; if none is available it will be the opposing point guard." (http://dolphinsim.com/help/basket/coaching.shtml)
In this game Louisville played Box&1 but it seems they did not have a matchup. So EVERY PLAYER for Duke is listed with the -2.0 double team which you normally see with Box&1, but NO PLAYER has the 8.0 from the double-team. Since Duke PG Denton played all 45 minutes, I would expect to see him listed as 8.0 doubled, but he's not.
It's like the game simply skipped the double team, like Louisville was playing 4v5. I think this is a critical defect in the game which needs to be addressed immediately.

Priority: Short Term
Admin Notes Box & 1 had an issue where the PG-on-PG matchup was not defaulted to if the coach neglected to specify matchups. This has been resolved.
.
In terms of how change requests are submitted, I will note this was submitted as a "critical error", which is overly alarmist. Spot-checking a few games where I forced this condition, the difference in final margin between the "before fix" and "after fix" was only a few points.

David Smith (Mar 20 11:47:03 2020
): The loss vs Duke is my own fault. I had played Box & 1 vs Virginia Tech in the season finale and forgot to change back to my normal defense for the tournament...not that it necessarily would have mattered. I did find it weird in the box score that nobody got doubled though. What Stephen has described I would agree with.
