Each line should start with the ID number of
the player whose contract you are trying to negotiate, followed by the
amount of the offer (should usually be equal to what he's asking for),
the duration of the offered contract, and the
bonus type (0=none, 1=standard, 3=standard with buyout).
the bonus amount (in dollars) will be the bonus percent times the value divided by 0.3, rounded down. Bonus money is paid out over the lifetime of the contract, but is guaranteed money (must be paid, even if the player is cut).
no bonus is only allowed for one-year contracts.
the level must be divisible by 0.04 million.
players will have desired contract levels. If you offer less than this
the offer will be rejected.
the maximum length of a multi-year contract depends on the player. There
is a "PerY" line in the salary part of your roster that gives the multiplier.
If a player has a "PerY" value of 0.6, for example, you can only offer a
3-year contract if you are offering at least 1.8 million.
a buyout will be needed if the amount of bonus money in a player's
existing contract is more than the amount of bonus money in an offered
contract.
The breakpoint between years of a contract is when a season is ended.
So if the league is still in playoffs and you want to sign a player for the
upcoming season, you need to give him a two-year deal, for the current
season which has not yet finished, and for the upcoming season.
Examples:
CONTRACTS
567 4.32 8 1
DONE
will attempt to sign player #567 to an 8 year deal, with value of $4.32
million and bonus of $1.28 million per year.
