The thoughts were echoed by Detroit coach David Smith. "We had pretty thorough film sessions coming into the game, and we never saw them execute that well. [Portland coach] Bob did a great job getting them ready, and we'll have to see if this was a one-time performance or if they can maintain that level of play."

Portland keep rolling with a winning streak of 5 games and jump to 55-22 and 29-10 at home. They have clinched the Northwest crown and stay at #2 overall in the Western Conference. Detroit snapped their winning streak at 21 games, and stand at 70-7. They clinched the Central title and remain at #1 overall in the Eastern Conference.
