CVBL: Utah Routs Denver 96-70
Riser had a great game today to lead Utah to a 96-70 rout of Denver. "Riser played his heart out today, and the rest of the team followed," said Coach Young of his star's performance. "Admittedly this wasn't the toughest competition we've ever faced, but it's great to see a game where everything works as planned."
Faces were a bit longer in the Denver locker room. "Everybody knew that Denver are a great team and that it would take a flawless game on our part and some luck to beat them. But to lose by this kind of margin is disheartening. We were just completely ineffective out there. I'll have to look over the films and try to turn this into a learning experience. Certainly I can pick up some tips from Coach Young's coaching."
Utah was led by Riser (6 points, 6 boards, 11 assists, 4 steals), Henderson (12 points, 17 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks), Bowling (17 points, 1 assists, 2 blocks). Denver was led by Moore (7 points, 12 boards, 0 assists, 3 blocks), Lee (7 points, 9 boards, 1 assists, a steal), Strong (13 points, a block).
Utah halted their losing streak at 6 games, and stand at 19-19. They stay at #3 in the Northwest and remain at #9 overall in the Western Conference. Denver fall to 28-12 and 16-3 at home. They stay at #1 in the Northwest and remain at #2 overall in the Western Conference.
