CVBL: Charlotte 105, Cleveland 101
Charlotte squeezed out a win today against Cleveland, 105-101. Both teams came out of the gates strong but a late game push by Charlotte was just enough to hold off Cleveland. Coach Bob said, "This game is really a sign of things to come. We come out and play hard every night. Things are looking up, and the fans of Charlotte have a lot to look forward to after this victory."
In the Cleveland locker room after the game, players were in a somber mood. Even after the great team performance led by Gill, they still come up short. "We deserved to win. That was our game - we just need to be able to put our opposition away when we have them down. We really were the better team." said Gill after the game.
Charlotte was led by Vance (12 points, 13 boards, 3 assists, 4 blocks), Cullum (24 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, a block), Bailey (9 points, 13 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks). Cleveland was led by Gill (18 points, 9 boards, 2 assists, 3 steals, a block), Taylor (21 points, 0 assists), Williams (13 points, 2 steals, a block).
Charlotte extended their winning streak 5 games and jump to 27-13. They hold at #2 in the Southeast and remain at #4 overall in the Eastern Conference. Cleveland drop to 24-17 and 15-5 at home. They hold at #1 in the Central and stay at #3 overall in the Eastern Conference.
