CVBL: Miami 116, Houston 115
Miami squeezed out a win today against Houston, 116-115. Both teams came out of the gates strong but a late game push by Miami was just enough to hold off Houston. Coach Bob said, "This game is really a sign of things to come. We come out and play hard every night. Things are looking up, and the fans of Miami have a lot to look forward to after this victory."
In the Houston locker room after the game, players were in a somber mood. Even after the great team performance led by Jackson, they still come up short. "We deserved to win. That was our game - we just need to be able to put our opposition away when we have them down. We really were the better team." said Jackson after the game.
Miami was led by Perry (22 points, 9 boards, 1 assists, a block), Torres (12 points), Byrd (11 points, 2 steals). Houston was led by Jackson (24 points, 10 boards, 5 assists, 3 steals, a block), Howard (31 points, 1 assists, a block), James (15 points, 11 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks).
With today's win, Miami jump to 26-14. They hold at #1 in the Southeast and hold at #2 overall in the Eastern Conference. With the loss, Houston drop to 17-22 and 11-10 at home. They hold at #5 in the Southwest and stay at #8 overall in the Western Conference.
