CVBL: Houston Upsets Utah
An order of bad sushi made all the difference today as Houston upset the favored Utah 87-76. Lewis had a huge game for Houston, spoiling an otherwise solid performance by Utah star Feaster in a game that could have post-season implications.
Utah apparantly had dinner together as team last night at a local sushi bar with most unfortunate results. Several team members spent the night in the hospital, while other team members got very little sleep as they rotated turns at their hotel room's toilets. The fatigue was evident from the beginning.
"You feel sorry for them," quipped Houston coach Bob. "That's a terrible thing to happen to anybody, but we had a job to do. There's no charity in this game." Utah coach Coach Young was apologetic to Utah fans. "Obviously we didn't see this coming, and I regret that we couldn't put a better product on the field today. I thought we still had enough to win, but it just wasn't going to happen."
Houston was led by Lewis (30 points, 0 assists, a steal), Sims (11 points, 0 assists, a block), Fox (12 points, a block). Utah was led by Feaster (21 points, 17 boards, 1 assists), Patton (19 points, 1 assists), Cummings (13 points, a block).
Houston are now 23-19 and 13-10 at home with this win. They advance to #2 in the Southwest and advance to #7 overall in the Western Conference. With this loss, Utah stand at 24-17. They stay at #2 in the Northwest and hold at #5 overall in the Western Conference.
