CVBL: Memphis Express Steamrolls Denver 104-96
Memphis star Scott led his team to a win today in a key game against Denver. Although standings were at stake, the game was as much about bragging rights as anything. The teams have a long history against each other that began when coaches Bob and Bob traded insults after an apparently intentional injury to one of Bob's players. Although Bob has long denied that there was any malicious intent, Memphis fans don't believe it and turn out in large numbers whenever Denver comes to town.
Memphis was led by Scott (6 points, 19 boards, 6 assists, 2 blocks), Manly (22 points, 2 assists, a block), Calloway (17 points, 9 boards, 1 assists, a steal). Denver was led by Simmons (18 points, 15 boards, 2 assists, 4 blocks), Davidson (5 points, 3 steals, a block), Stanford (10 points, 9 boards, 1 assists, a steal).
After today's victory, Memphis jump to 28-12 and 17-5 at home. They hold at #1 in the Southwest and stay at #1 overall in the Western Conference. After this loss, Denver stand at 28-14. They stay at #1 in the Northwest and remain at #2 overall in the Western Conference.
