CVBL: Portland Beats New Orleans 106-96
Portland beat New Orleans today in a 106-96 game that was close the whole way. For much of the game, it looked like New Orleans would be able to pull off the win, thanks in large part to an outstanding performance by Jones. But the tide finally turned in the end, with Portland star Jackson leading his team to victory.
"Definitely a great game," said Portland coach Bob after the game. "The fans got their money's worth out of it, and both teams put up a good fight. We're just glad that we were able to finish strong and get the W. Jackson was a big part of that, and I don't think we'd have won without his efforts."
Portland was led by Jackson (36 points, 3 assists, a steal, 6 blocks), Quinn (7 points, 3 steals), Vanderveer (15 points, 13 boards, 0 assists, a block). New Orleans was led by Jones (40 points, 0 assists, 2 steals, 5 blocks), Williams (16 points, a block), Dillard (8 points, 1 assists, a block).
Portland stand at 28-12 and 14-6 at home. They stay at #1 in the Northwest and remain at #2 overall in the Western Conference. New Orleans drop to 14-26. They stay at #4 in the Southwest and hold at #12 overall in the Western Conference.
