CVBL: Phoenix Pulls Off Upset over Minnesota

"Phoenix Cheat Minnesota," screamed the headlines this morning after some questionable officiating in last night's contest. Even neutral observers wonder whether the set of refs will ever be asked to call another game, as Phoenix got the benefit of every marginal call and a few others that were obviously bad. "The game was rigged more than the WWF," said an upset Minnesota coach Bob after the game. "You've seen the replays. I don't need to say any more." League officials were slower to jump to conclusions, but an anonymous source said that the commissioner was watching the broadcast and couldn't believe his eyes in some cases. "The commish was saying he could have made better calls off his 5 inch travel TV."

Phoenix was led by Dupree (24 points, 3 assists, a block), Mercer (11 points, 8 assists, 2 steals, a block), Hunt (6 points, 11 boards, 2 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks). Minnesota was led by Dirks (15 points, 7 boards, 3 assists), Lundy (19 points), Smith (7 points).

After the win, Phoenix are now 22-20 and 14-7 at home. They remain at #3 in the Pacific and move up to #8 overall in the Western Conference. After the defeat, Minnesota stand at 22-17. They stay at #3 in the Northwest and remain at #7 overall in the Western Conference.
