CVBL: Detroit Beats Golden State 87-79

Detroit overcame a great game by Odell, beating Golden State 87-79. "It's a team sport," said losing coach Perez Suarez. "If we had another couple players like Odell out there, we'd have won this game easily. But we didn't, so we didn't." Perez Suarez has been under fire lately, and the lackluster performance by his players (save Odell) certainly doesn't improve his job security any.

The normally-quiet Odell was less than satisfied after the game. "I feel betrayed - like I did my best and my teammates didn't. I don't know if it was coach's fault for not getting the team up, or if the other players just all had an off day at the same time. But this was a close game, we had our chances, and we didn't execute when we needed."

Detroit was led by Day (14 points, 13 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks), Riffe (10 points, 10 assists, 2 steals), Henderson (22 points, 5 boards, 0 assists, a steal). Golden State was led by Odell (9 points, 29 boards, 0 assists), Reeve (33 points, 1 assists), Worthy (11 points, 7 assists, 5 steals).

With today's victory, Detroit jump to 18-10. They advance to #2 in the Central and move up to #4 overall in the Eastern Conference. Golden State are now 6-20 and 3-7 at home with today's loss. They stay at #5 in the Pacific and hold at #15 overall in the Western Conference.
