CVBL: Atlanta Outplays a Better New York Team 103-89
A great outing by Fanny was enough to offset a superior New York team and key a 103-89 upset by Atlanta. There's no question that New York is the better team, and even after today's loss they remain ranked ahead of Atlanta. But that wasn't important today, when Fanny took over and carried his team to a win. "What a gift," grinned Atlanta coach Bob. "The rest of the team got outplayed, but Fanny stepped up and got us the win. No complaints, but we'd be surprised to get another win over New York."
Said losing coach Bob, "What a tough way to lose. It seemed like we had everything under control today. We pretty much did what we wanted, except for Fanny."
Atlanta was led by Fanny (28 points, 6 assists, 2 steals, a block), Archie (14 points), Taylor (7 points, 8 boards, 3 assists, 3 blocks). New York was led by Hollis (17 points, 10 boards, 2 assists, a steal), Brumfield (14 points, 2 assists, 2 blocks), Anders (12 points, 6 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks).
Atlanta improve to 16-24 and 9-7 at home with the victory. They stay at #4 in the Southeast and stay at #13 overall in the Eastern Conference. New York drop to 20-20. They drop to #5 in the Atlantic and fall to #9 overall in the Eastern Conference.
