CVBL: Philadelphia Does What it Takes to Stun LA Lakers 89-69
Bob is a believer in destiny now. After running up a $300 phone bill talking with a fortune teller he saw advertised on cable TV, his Philadelphia team managed to upset favored LA Lakers Bob-Andreas Helmle.
"It was crazy. I called her up, and she knew I was the Philadelphia coach. She saw the whole game before it happened. She told me we needed to build our game around Hargrove, and that sure worked out well. She was telling me their entire gameplan, I couldn't take notes fast enough. She saw that Richardson was going to have a big day for LA Lakers, but not to worry about him and focus on the rest of the team. The best part was she told me at the end that it was destiny for us to win this game. Destiny."
Asked what he thought about Bob's experience, LA Lakers coach Andreas Helmle replied simply: "No comment".
Philadelphia was led by Hargrove (32 points), Rogers (7 points, 14 boards, 0 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Mcdougal (9 points, 2 steals, a block). LA Lakers was led by Richardson (6 points, 13 boards, 0 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Dixson (5 points, 6 assists, 2 steals, a block), Matthews (12 points, a block).
With the victory, Philadelphia improve to 25-16. They hold at #2 in the Atlantic and stay at #5 overall in the Eastern Conference. LA Lakers are now 29-12 and 12-7 at home. They hold at #2 in the Pacific and hold at #4 overall in the Western Conference.
