CVBL: Minnesota Beats Phoenix 104-96
Minnesota star Jaramillo led his team to a win today in a key game against Phoenix. Although standings were at stake, the game was as much about bragging rights as anything. The teams have a long history against each other that began when coaches Bob and Bob traded insults after an apparently intentional injury to one of Bob's players. Although Bob has long denied that there was any malicious intent, Minnesota fans don't believe it and turn out in large numbers whenever Phoenix comes to town.
Minnesota was led by Jaramillo (14 points, 19 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks), Davis (24 points, 7 boards, 2 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Walz (7 points, 5 boards, 15 assists, 3 steals). Phoenix was led by Cruz (19 points, 5 boards, 3 assists, 5 blocks), Logan (13 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, 5 blocks), Parker (24 points, 1 assists).
Minnesota jump to 33-8 and 20-2 at home with today's victory. They remain at #1 in the Northwest and remain at #2 overall in the Western Conference. Phoenix stand at 17-25. They stay at #4 in the Pacific and stay at #9 overall in the Western Conference.
