CVBL: Washington Stuns Houston

Washington overcame huge odds and a great Houston team to pull off a big upset today. The game begin with a yawn, as nobody in the stadium except for the Washington player and coach Bob thought the game would turn out this way. But as the game progressed and Washington stayed with Houston and started pulling ahead, the electricity in the air began to build. By the end, fans of both sides knew they had witnessed one of the great performances ever.

Even Houston coach Bob was impressed. "Normally in an upset, the favorite has to really screw things up. We didn't play magnificently, but we didn't play badly either. You just have to give credit to Bob and his team. Denby played especially well for them; I don't think anyone really expected that sort of game from him."

Washington was led by Denby (8 points, 5 boards, 16 assists, 4 steals), Dirks (22 points, 8 boards, 4 assists, 4 blocks), Smith (15 points, 4 assists, a block). Houston was led by Lewis (38 points, 2 steals, a block), Thompson (15 points, 15 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks), Miller (9 points, a steal).

With today's win, Washington are now 19-21 and 15-5 at home. They improve to #3 in the Southeast and advance to #7 overall in the Eastern Conference. Houston are now 31-9 with today's loss. They stay at #1 in the Southwest and hold at #1 overall in the Western Conference.
