CVBL: Brooklyn 104, Atlanta 82 in Upset Win
Brooklyn pulled off the 104-82 upset of Atlanta today, thanks to a mistake-filled game. "We stank," said losing coach Bob. "We beat them around like high-schoolers whenever we played like we usually do, but that wasn't often enough. There's just no excuse for that type of play. I suppose we just got overconfident; I mean Atlanta isn't exactly a top-notch team. But we sure stank it up out there."
Brooklyn coach Bob focused more on the positives. "Bob can say what he wants, but we really managed to knock them out of their usual plan. Would that have happened if they weren't playing anybody? He makes it sound like they gave the game away, but the truth is that we played with them the whole way and were in position to capitalize when our chances came."
Brooklyn was led by Alves (12 points, 15 boards, 2 assists), Spring (20 points, 2 steals), Hester (18 points, 5 boards, 1 assists, a block). Atlanta was led by Jackson (19 points, 7 boards, 2 assists, 4 blocks), Mcnair (18 points, 5 boards, 1 assists, 4 blocks), Souza (13 points).
Brooklyn improve to 18-22 and 11-10 at home with today's victory. They hold at #3 in the Atlantic and stay at #7 overall in the Eastern Conference. Atlanta stand at 26-17. They stay at #1 in the Southeast and remain at #3 overall in the Eastern Conference.
