Houston pulled off the surprise 106-99 win over Portland, thanks to a great game by Laboy. "Take away Laboy from this team, and we couldn't have done it," said Houston coach Bob after the game. "He deserves the credit for this win." Portland coach Bob agreed, "We didn't really think Laboy had that kind of game in him after watching the films, but he showed us wrong."

Portland was led by Smith (19 points, 8 boards, 16 assists, 3 steals, a block), Jackson (24 points, 6 boards, 0 assists, 3 blocks), Vanderveer (17 points, 7 boards, 2 assists, a steal).
Houston improve to 25-19 and 14-10 at home. They hold at #2 in the Southwest and improve to #6 overall in the Western Conference. Portland are now 29-13 after today's defeat. They stay at #1 in the Northwest and remain at #2 overall in the Western Conference.
