CVBL: Memphis Defeats Dallas 107-101
Memphis overcame a great game by Thompson, beating Dallas 107-101. "It's a team sport," said losing coach Bob. "If we had another couple players like Thompson out there, we'd have won this game easily. But we didn't, so we didn't." Bob has been under fire lately, and the lackluster performance by his players (save Thompson) certainly doesn't improve his job security any.
The normally-quiet Thompson was less than satisfied after the game. "I feel betrayed - like I did my best and my teammates didn't. I don't know if it was coach's fault for not getting the team up, or if the other players just all had an off day at the same time. But this was a close game, we had our chances, and we didn't execute when we needed."
Memphis was led by Keeney (24 points, 6 boards, 2 assists, a block), Peppers (21 points, 8 boards, 0 assists), Jensen (14 points, 5 boards, 5 assists, 2 steals). Dallas was led by Thompson (18 points, 15 boards, 2 assists), Givens (20 points, 5 boards, 1 assists, 3 blocks), Schmidt (19 points, 2 steals, a block).
With the victory, Memphis improve to 33-9. They remain at #1 in the Southwest and stay at #2 overall in the Western Conference. Dallas fall to 18-23 and 11-10 at home. They move down to #4 in the Southwest and fall to #12 overall in the Western Conference.
