CVBL: Sacramento Defeats Washington 123-117

A solid outing by Kaplan led Sacramento to a 123-117 win over Washington. "Take away Kaplan, and we'd have won this thing," said Washington coach Bob. "It was a very close game most of the way, and he was the one that put Sacramento over the top. I thought we had the right game plan and executed well. What's sad is that I don't know what we'd do differently next time, except for hoping for a more mortal performance by him."

Sacramento coach Bob was happy for the win, but concerned about the team's play. "I didn't think this was a very good team win. Our players seemed tempted to sit around and watch Kaplan do his stuff. That was enough for the win today, but on another day maybe Kaplan will be injured or our opponents can counter him, and we'll need the rest of the players to step up as well."

Sacramento was led by Kaplan (25 points, 8 boards, 2 assists, a steal, 3 blocks), Crandell (28 points, 5 boards, 0 assists, a block), Braziel (15 points, 12 boards, 1 assists, a steal). Washington was led by Hargrove (49 points, a steal, a block), Harrington (10 points, 9 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals), Brooks (16 points, 0 assists, a block).

Sacramento jump to 31-11 and 21-4 at home with today's win. They hold at #1 in the Pacific and remain at #1 overall in the Western Conference. Washington are now 19-24. They stay at #2 in the Southeast and hold at #9 overall in the Eastern Conference.
