CVBL: Charlotte 109, Washington 93
A collapse by Washington led to a 109-93 beating by Charlotte, increasing the pressure on the Washington coach. Bob had to suffer through the game as his players were ineffective and his former fans were heckling. To make matters worse, the team was dominated by hated Charlotte, a bad thing for any Washington coach.
"That ---- man can't win a ---- game if his ---- life depended on it!" screamed one disgruntled fan, who is obviously tired of Washington losing ways. While Washington deny it, rumors about that they have already started a search for a new coach who can turn this franchise around.
It was just more fuel for the fire today when Charlotte took Washington behind the woodpile for a 109-93 whooping. Although Vegas was predicting a Charlotte win, many people believed the Washington certainly had the talent to knock them off. Gibson did everything in his power to help his coach, but in the end Plungis led the Charlotte to victory.
"You hate to see somebody with Bob's character go through this. It's just a sad sight," commented Charlotte coach Bob. "We're obviously delighted to get the victory over such a worthy adversary in a big rivalry game like this, and all I can do is credit my players, my assistants, and our fans."
Charlotte was led by Plungis (26 points, 6 boards, 0 assists, a block), Horn (17 points, 0 assists, 2 blocks), White (17 points, 5 boards, 1 assists). Washington was led by Gibson (22 points, 7 assists), Gavagan (16 points, a steal, 2 blocks), White (10 points, a steal).
Charlotte stand at 28-14 and 15-7 at home. They remain at #1 in the Southeast and hold at #2 overall in the Eastern Conference. Washington extended their losing streak 6 games and fall to 15-26. They stay at #5 in the Southeast and move down to #14 overall in the Eastern Conference.
