CVBL: Brooklyn Knocks Off Phoenix
Coming in as heavy underdogs, Brooklyn turned some heads today with a solid 101-92 win over Phoenix. Said one broadcaster, "I didn't know Brooklyn were that good, quite frankly. They really haven't done much all season, but the way they came in and handled Phoenix showed what they're capable of."
The thoughts were echoed by Phoenix coach Bob. "We had pretty thorough film sessions coming into the game, and we never saw them execute that well. [Brooklyn coach] Bob did a great job getting them ready, and we'll have to see if this was a one-time performance or if they can maintain that level of play."
Brooklyn was led by Spring (29 points, 7 boards, 0 assists), Alves (14 points, 12 boards, 1 assists, 3 blocks), Hester (10 points, 7 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks). Phoenix was led by Hunt (16 points, 17 boards, 2 assists, a steal), Celaya (29 points, a steal), Mercer (5 points, 3 steals).
With today's win, Brooklyn stand at 19-23. They remain at #3 in the Atlantic and hold at #7 overall in the Eastern Conference. After today's loss, Phoenix drop to 23-21 and 14-8 at home. They remain at #3 in the Pacific and hold at #8 overall in the Western Conference.
