CVBL: Detroit Comes up Big Over New Orleans
Lacroix continues to dominate the league and helped Detroit post an expected win over New Orleans, 85-79. The game was a solid team effort, but Lacroix - a favorite for post-season honors - was outstanding, completely overshadowing a great performance by New Orleans key player, Fletcher.
Lacroix's coach, David Smith, had nothing but praise for his star. "He's just special. It's something just to sit back and watch him do his thing. He certainly brings pride to Detroit fans everywhere." New Orleans coach Bob was concilliatory after the game as well. "When Lacroix is doing his thing, you just hope you can keep him under control. We didn't, though Fletcher certainly did his part. We really thought we could win this game, so the locker room is pretty quiet right now. We'll just have to turn our focus to next week."
Detroit was led by Lacroix (20 points, 8 boards, 0 assists), Martin (17 points, 4 blocks), White (8 points, 11 boards, 1 assists, a block). New Orleans was led by Fletcher (13 points, 17 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks), Howie (19 points, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Gray (15 points, a steal, a block).
Detroit stand at 28-15 with this victory. They move up to #2 in the Central and advance to #5 overall in the Eastern Conference. New Orleans stand at 23-20 and 12-9 at home with this defeat. They hold at #3 in the Southwest and remain at #6 overall in the Western Conference.
