CVBL: Phoenix Express Steamrolls Portland 100-95
Portland came up short today against Phoenix, falling 100-95. "That was a really tough game to lose," said Portland coach Bob after the game. "We came in thinking we could beat these guys. And we really played them well. But a few too many mistakes on our part kept us from getting the 'W'." One player who definitely can't be too downcast is King, whose outstanding game was one of the bright points for Portland and caused some other teams to take notice.
Phoenix was led by Whitfield (16 points, 15 boards, 0 assists, 3 blocks), Martinez (8 points, 12 assists, 2 steals), Calloway (16 points, 2 steals, a block). Portland was led by King (7 points, 2 steals), Chapple (27 points), Ortega (21 points, 5 boards, 1 assists, a steal, a block).
With this win, Phoenix improve to 23-20. They remain at #3 in the Pacific and stay at #8 overall in the Western Conference. Portland keep stumbling with a losing streak of 12 games and are now 12-31 and 11-7 at home. They drop to #5 in the Northwest and move down to #15 overall in the Western Conference.
