CVBL: Denver Defeats Washington 124-117
The fans got what they came out for, as Denver won a seesaw 124-117 victory over Washington. "What a great game to have been a part of," said Denver star Hamilton. "The momentum kept changing and neither team really had a chance to run away with the game. It just came down to having more in the tank at the end, and that was us."
Washington coach Bob was less enthusiastic about the game. "We had our chances to win the game, but didn't convert them. I'm most bothered that it seemed like we faded down the stretch; I think we may need to spend a little more time working on conditioning in the future. Regardless, it was a great game. Hamilton and [Washington star] Hargrove really put on a show for the fans."
Denver was led by Hamilton (24 points, 12 boards, 3 assists, a steal, a block), Strong (29 points, 5 blocks), Moore (12 points, 21 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks). Washington was led by Hargrove (30 points, 6 boards, 0 assists, 4 steals), Harrington (14 points, 12 boards, 1 assists, 4 blocks), Brown (7 points, a steal).
Denver are now 31-13 and 19-4 at home with today's win. They hold at #1 in the Northwest and stay at #2 overall in the Western Conference. Washington fall to 19-25 with today's loss. They stay at #2 in the Southeast and stay at #9 overall in the Eastern Conference.
