CVBL: Bob Ecstatic as Minnesota Upsets Oklahoma Cty
Minnesota came away with the shocker today, as Oklahoma Cty self-destructed and handed them the 112-100 win. The outcome was one that even the hardiest of Minnesota fans would have predicted. "Our game plan was to try to stick around be close enough that maybe we could get lucky," said Minnesota coach Bob. "I hate to admit it, but we all know that if Oklahoma Cty is on top of its game, there's nothing we can do to beat them. Anyway, the plan worked - we kept things close and were able to capitalize when the game was handed to us."
Oklahoma Cty coach Bob took a lot of heat afterwards, especially when it was learned that he was already preparing for the team's next opponent. "It was a risk, of course, but at some point you've got to weigh the advantages of extra time preparing for Minnesota against extra time preparing for a real opponent. Anyway, that's not why we lost - we lost from our mental mistakes, not from being underprepared for Minnesota."
Minnesota was led by Animashaun (23 points, 2 assists, 2 blocks), White (21 points, 3 blocks), Johnson (8 points, 7 assists, a steal, a block). Oklahoma Cty was led by Plungis (17 points, 9 boards, 1 assists, a steal), Valentine (11 points, 3 blocks), Sheppard (5 points, a steal).
Minnesota improve to 13-30. They move up to #4 in the Northwest and advance to #14 overall in the Western Conference. Oklahoma Cty are now 23-19 and 12-9 at home. They stay at #2 in the Northwest and remain at #6 overall in the Western Conference.
