CVBL: Denver Pulls Out Win Over Atlanta 95-85
Simmons led Denver to victory today over Atlanta in a 95-85 game. "It was a tough one to lose," said losing coach Bob. "I thought we had a great chance going in, and even now I think we'd have a great chance in a rematch. But Simmons made the difference for his team, and we really didn't have an answer today."
Denver coach Bob was equally admiring of his star. "Atlanta were very well prepared for this game, and our boys weren't really ready for what they faced out there. I like to believe that we'd play a better all-around game when we play them again, but we'll be happy riding Simmons and getting the win today."
Denver was led by Simmons (34 points, 13 boards, 0 assists, 3 blocks), Davidson (7 points, 9 assists, 3 blocks), Beard (17 points, a steal). Atlanta was led by Wade (16 points, 5 boards, 1 assists, a block), Lawson (13 points, 2 assists, a steal), Contreras (16 points, a steal).
After today's win, Denver jump to 32-14. They stay at #1 in the Northwest and hold at #2 overall in the Western Conference. Atlanta stand at 18-27 and 12-11 at home with this loss. They hold at #4 in the Southeast and stay at #12 overall in the Eastern Conference.
