CVBL: San Antonio Gets a Big Win Against Chicago
An order of bad sushi made all the difference today as San Antonio upset the favored Chicago 101-98. Duncan had a huge game for San Antonio, spoiling an otherwise solid performance by Chicago star Wilson in a game that could have post-season implications.
Chicago apparantly had dinner together as team last night at a local sushi bar with most unfortunate results. Several team members spent the night in the hospital, while other team members got very little sleep as they rotated turns at their hotel room's toilets. The fatigue was evident from the beginning.
"You feel sorry for them," quipped San Antonio coach Bob. "That's a terrible thing to happen to anybody, but we had a job to do. There's no charity in this game." Chicago coach Bob was apologetic to Chicago fans. "Obviously we didn't see this coming, and I regret that we couldn't put a better product on the field today. I thought we still had enough to win, but it just wasn't going to happen."
San Antonio was led by Duncan (12 points, 13 boards, 2 assists, a steal, 3 blocks), Almanzar (12 points, 7 boards, 8 assists, a steal), Logan (23 points, 1 assists, a block). Chicago was led by Wilson (25 points, 5 boards, 12 assists, 2 steals, a block), Meyers (18 points, 6 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks), Joyner (19 points, 0 assists, 2 blocks).
San Antonio jump to 24-22 with today's win. They remain at #4 in the Southwest and hold at #7 overall in the Western Conference. With this defeat, Chicago drop to 26-18 and 15-7 at home. They hold at #4 in the Central and hold at #7 overall in the Eastern Conference.
