CVBL: Boston Pulls Off Upset over Miami
An order of bad sushi made all the difference today as Boston upset the favored Miami 103-92. Woodard had a huge game for Boston, spoiling an otherwise solid performance by Miami star Colomb in a game that could have post-season implications.
Miami apparantly had dinner together as team last night at a local sushi bar with most unfortunate results. Several team members spent the night in the hospital, while other team members got very little sleep as they rotated turns at their hotel room's toilets. The fatigue was evident from the beginning.
"You feel sorry for them," quipped Boston coach Bob. "That's a terrible thing to happen to anybody, but we had a job to do. There's no charity in this game." Miami coach Bob was apologetic to Miami fans. "Obviously we didn't see this coming, and I regret that we couldn't put a better product on the field today. I thought we still had enough to win, but it just wasn't going to happen."
Boston was led by Woodard (24 points, 11 boards, 4 assists, a steal), Dick (8 points, 12 boards, 5 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Jasper (17 points, 2 assists, a steal). Miami was led by Colomb (26 points, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Williams (17 points, a steal, 2 blocks), Keeney (11 points, 1 assists, a steal, a block).
Boston improve to 19-27 and 15-10 at home. They remain at #5 in the Atlantic and stay at #10 overall in the Eastern Conference. Miami fall to 24-20 with today's defeat. They stay at #1 in the Southeast and stay at #3 overall in the Eastern Conference.
