CVBL: Memphis Downs Philadelphia
Memphis brushed past an overmatched Philadelphia team today 115-100. Always politically correct, Memphis coach Bob stated simply "We just managed to do what we needed to get done out there. The players had solid execution all around, and Brown's effort helped set the pace. Philadelphia is a team we've had success against in the past, which I think gave us a bit more confidence coming in."
Philadelphia coach Bob was a little more frank. "We knew going in that we'd need a miracle to beat Memphis, and we didn't get it. They have better players and a better coach, and did what they were supposed to do out there. I'm just glad the final score wasn't even worse."
Memphis was led by Brown (20 points, 10 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals, a block), Jensen (34 points, 0 assists), Washington (16 points, 8 boards, 1 assists, a block). Philadelphia was led by Burke (18 points, 6 boards, 0 assists), Ziegler (19 points, a block), Austin (12 points, 2 steals).
Memphis keep rolling with a winning streak of 6 games and stand at 31-14. They hold at #1 in the Southwest and remain at #3 overall in the Western Conference. Philadelphia are now 29-17 and 22-4 at home. They stay at #3 in the Atlantic and hold at #5 overall in the Eastern Conference.
