CVBL: Detroit Cruises to 101-86 Win over Miami
It has been a nightmare season for veteran coach Bob and his team. The bright points have been few and far between, as the team is looking for somewhere to hide. Today's game was equally painful, as the team opened up strong but collapsed down the stretch, failing to take advantages of numerous opportunities to get back in the game. White helped put the nail in the coffin today with his outstanding game.
"Bob talked a lot of junk before the start of the season." stated Detroit White. "They may be one of the worst teams in the league, but we know that everyone in that locker room wants to play just a little harder when they see Miami on their schedule."
"Sure, they do stink." added head coach David Smith, "but look at what happened when teams have been overconfident against them. Not that I can really blame them. If we were that pathetic, I think I would rather play all rookies and lose that way then be embarrassed."
Detroit was led by White (9 points, 17 boards, 4 assists, 4 steals, 2 blocks), Lacroix (18 points, 8 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Tatum (13 points, 6 boards, 2 assists, a steal). Miami was led by Perry (11 points, 11 boards, 2 assists, 3 steals, a block), James (26 points, a block), Byrd (10 points, a steal, 3 blocks).
With today's victory, Detroit are now 30-16 and 15-8 at home. They remain at #2 in the Central and improve to #4 overall in the Eastern Conference. Miami halted their winning streak at 10 games, and drop to 30-15. They hold at #1 in the Southeast and stay at #2 overall in the Eastern Conference.
