CVBL: New York Upsets Philadelphia 105-96
New York came out solid today, defying the predictions and notching the 105-96 upset of Philadelphia. "Somebody forgot to tell them they were underdogs," quipped Philadelphia coach Bob after the game. "No question, they were the better team out there today and deserved this win. I thought we came in prepared, but that was just a lot better than we've seen New York play for some time."
Credit has to be given to New York coach Bob, who brought his team together after some tough losses earlier and has them playing at their best. "Some of the us really took those losses hard," said star Gause. "But coach sat us down and showed us what we were doing wrong and what we needed to do to turn around. That was great to hear, and you saw the results today."
New York was led by Gause (17 points, 13 boards, 3 assists, 2 blocks), Brumfield (22 points, 7 boards, 0 assists), Meyers (9 points, 3 steals, a block). Philadelphia was led by Jakes (7 points, 5 boards, 13 assists, 2 steals), Joseph (19 points, 10 boards, 1 assists), Flournoy (17 points, 6 boards, 1 assists).
With the win, New York jump to 24-24 and 17-8 at home. They stay at #3 in the Atlantic and remain at #8 overall in the Eastern Conference. Philadelphia are now 29-18. They hold at #1 in the Atlantic and hold at #2 overall in the Eastern Conference.
