CVBL: Utah 98, Oklahoma Cty 87
Utah showed their mettle today with a convincing 98-87 win over Oklahoma Cty. "After some of the games we've had, I think we've left some doubt as to whether we can solidly beat anybody," said head coach Coach Young after the game. "I don't know that one game will erase those doubts, but I can certainly see the difference in the locker room."
The win came largely as the result of a great effort by Cummings, the Utah star. Said Coach Young of him, "The game would have gone down to the wire without Cummings's efforts today. He really made the difference between another tough battle and a dominating win."
Utah was led by Cummings (20 points, a block), Robinson (16 points, 2 assists, a block), Sparenberg (5 points, 9 assists, 3 steals). Oklahoma Cty was led by Stanford (26 points, 7 boards, 1 assists, 2 steals), Johnson (20 points, 0 assists), Walston (14 points, 0 assists).
Utah keep rolling with a winning streak of 6 games and jump to 36-10. They remain at #1 in the Northwest and remain at #3 overall in the Western Conference. Oklahoma Cty snapped their winning streak at 7 games, and stand at 30-18 and 17-7 at home. They stay at #2 in the Northwest and stay at #6 overall in the Western Conference.
