CVBL: Sacramento 113, Portland 94

Sacramento showed who was the better team tonight with a convincing 113-94 win over Portland. Although not exactly a blowout, Sacramento coach Bob and his players outplayed Portland from start to end. "I was hoping for a better outcome," said Portland coach Bob during a post-game interview. "But they just overpowered us, and there was nothing we could do to adjust. Bob's team was more talented and better-prepared, and it would have taken quite a bit of luck for us to overcome that."

The loss was tough on Portland fans, who had expected great things from their team after some offseason moves. "I think reality is starting to sink in," said one team. "We didn't expect to see other teams outplaying us this badly, but Sacramento sure made their point."

Sacramento was led by Stanford (21 points, 20 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals, 4 blocks), Sherrill (27 points, 7 boards, 1 assists), Bravo (22 points, 6 boards, 0 assists, a steal, a block). Portland was led by Smith (14 points, 5 boards, 5 assists, 2 steals), Jackson (13 points, 7 boards, 1 assists, 3 blocks), Vanderveer (10 points, 10 boards, 2 assists, a block).

After this victory, Sacramento jump to 35-14 and 19-5 at home. They stay at #2 in the Pacific and hold at #4 overall in the Western Conference. With the defeat, Portland are now 32-15. They stay at #1 in the Northwest and drop to #3 overall in the Western Conference.
