CVBL: Chicago Surprises Utah 95-83
Chicago pulled off the upset, beating Utah in a game where nobody gave them much of a chance. Their prospects certainly looked bleak on paper, with most predictions giving Utah a solid win thanks to better skill at most positions. But head coach Bob came up with a marvelous game plan and kept Utah coach Coach Young guessing most of the game. This, as well as a number of solid performances by Byrd and others, gave Chicago the edge they needed to come out on top. "I think we caught them by surprise," said Bob after the game. "They played like they expected the win to be handed to them, but we made some adjustments after studying their tendencies and it paid off."
Chicago was led by Byrd (20 points, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Mcadoo (19 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, a steal, a block), Smith (16 points, 5 boards, 0 assists). Utah was led by Feaster (20 points, 12 boards, 2 assists), Cummings (12 points, 1 assists, a block), Hurd (12 points).
Chicago stand at 20-28 and 14-10 at home. They stay at #3 in the Central and move up to #9 overall in the Eastern Conference. With the loss, Utah fall to 25-23. They remain at #3 in the Northwest and move down to #8 overall in the Western Conference.
