CVBL: New Orleans Snatches Win over Memphis
Vancourt continues to dominate the league and helped New Orleans post an expected win over Memphis, 102-94. The game was a solid team effort, but Vancourt - a favorite for post-season honors - was outstanding, completely overshadowing a great performance by Memphis key player, Huey.
Vancourt's coach, Bob, had nothing but praise for his star. "He's just special. It's something just to sit back and watch him do his thing. He certainly brings pride to New Orleans fans everywhere." Memphis coach Bob was concilliatory after the game as well. "When Vancourt is doing his thing, you just hope you can keep him under control. We didn't, though Huey certainly did his part. We really thought we could win this game, so the locker room is pretty quiet right now. We'll just have to turn our focus to next week."
New Orleans was led by Vancourt (14 points, 9 boards, 3 assists, a steal, a block), Brown (6 points, 8 boards, 8 assists, a steal), Washington (12 points, 3 assists, 2 steals, a block). Memphis was led by Huey (6 points, 12 assists, 3 steals), Maxwell (26 points, a block), Smith (22 points).
With the win, New Orleans stand at 23-22 and 12-11 at home. They remain at #4 in the Southwest and improve to #9 overall in the Western Conference. Memphis drop to 22-25. They remain at #5 in the Southwest and hold at #13 overall in the Western Conference.
