CVBL: Put it on the Board: Detroit Wins
A collapse by Sacramento led to a 101-82 beating by Detroit, increasing the pressure on the Sacramento coach. Bob had to suffer through the game as his players were ineffective and his former fans were heckling. To make matters worse, the team was dominated by hated Detroit, a bad thing for any Sacramento coach.
"That ---- man can't win a ---- game if his ---- life depended on it!" screamed one disgruntled fan, who is obviously tired of Sacramento losing ways. While Sacramento deny it, rumors about that they have already started a search for a new coach who can turn this franchise around.
It was just more fuel for the fire today when Detroit took Sacramento behind the woodpile for a 101-82 whooping. Although Vegas was predicting a Detroit win, many people believed the Sacramento certainly had the talent to knock them off. Westbrook did everything in his power to help his coach, but in the end Day led the Detroit to victory.
"You hate to see somebody with Bob's character go through this. It's just a sad sight," commented Detroit coach David Smith. "We're obviously delighted to get the victory over such a worthy adversary in a big rivalry game like this, and all I can do is credit my players, my assistants, and our fans."
Detroit was led by Day (23 points, 8 boards, 1 assists), Riffe (6 points), Reynolds (5 points, 16 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks). Sacramento was led by Westbrook (21 points, 5 boards, 0 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Coleman (17 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, a block), Weaver (7 points, 5 assists, 4 steals).
With today's victory, Detroit jump to 22-12 and 10-3 at home. They remain at #2 in the Central and hold at #4 overall in the Eastern Conference. After today's defeat, Sacramento fall to 19-14. They hold at #1 in the Pacific and hold at #3 overall in the Western Conference.
