CVBL: Cleveland Defeats Washington 90-88

The fans got what they came out for, as Cleveland won a seesaw 90-88 victory over Washington. "What a great game to have been a part of," said Cleveland star Hobbs. "The momentum kept changing and neither team really had a chance to run away with the game. It just came down to having more in the tank at the end, and that was us."

Washington coach Bob was less enthusiastic about the game. "We had our chances to win the game, but didn't convert them. I'm most bothered that it seemed like we faded down the stretch; I think we may need to spend a little more time working on conditioning in the future. Regardless, it was a great game. Hobbs and [Washington star] Gibson really put on a show for the fans."

Cleveland was led by Hobbs (15 points, 15 boards, 4 assists, a steal, 8 blocks), Smith (28 points, 5 boards, 6 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Bravo (16 points, 5 boards, 1 assists, a block). Washington was led by Gibson (33 points, 0 assists, a block), Gavagan (20 points, 3 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks), Robertson (10 points, 7 boards, 0 assists).

Cleveland extended their winning streak 10 games and jump to 28-19. They hold at #5 in the Central and remain at #8 overall in the Eastern Conference. Washington fall to 17-29 and 12-11 at home with the loss. They stay at #5 in the Southeast and drop to #14 overall in the Eastern Conference.
