CVBL: Memphis Tops Denver
Memphis star Arcos led his team to a win today in a key game against Denver. Although standings were at stake, the game was as much about bragging rights as anything. The teams have a long history against each other that began when coaches Bob and Bob traded insults after an apparently intentional injury to one of Bob's players. Although Bob has long denied that there was any malicious intent, Memphis fans don't believe it and turn out in large numbers whenever Denver comes to town.
Memphis was led by Arcos (6 points, 25 boards, 2 assists, 6 blocks), Smith (22 points, 6 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks), Maxwell (28 points, 6 boards, 2 assists). Denver was led by Beachum (28 points, 2 blocks), Chopp (7 points, 11 boards, 2 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Griffin (6 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, 2 steals, a block).
Memphis stand at 23-25 with today's win. They stay at #5 in the Southwest and move up to #12 overall in the Western Conference. Denver stand at 21-23 and 14-8 at home after today's defeat. They stay at #5 in the Northwest and fall to #13 overall in the Western Conference.
