CVBL: New Orleans Plays the Spoiler
New Orleans overcame huge odds and a great Sacramento team to pull off a big upset today. The game begin with a yawn, as nobody in the stadium except for the New Orleans player and coach Bob thought the game would turn out this way. But as the game progressed and New Orleans stayed with Sacramento and started pulling ahead, the electricity in the air began to build. By the end, fans of both sides knew they had witnessed one of the great performances ever.
Even Sacramento coach Bob was impressed. "Normally in an upset, the favorite has to really screw things up. We didn't play magnificently, but we didn't play badly either. You just have to give credit to Bob and his team. Forde played especially well for them; I don't think anyone really expected that sort of game from him."
New Orleans was led by Forde (20 points, 7 boards, 0 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Raymond (15 points, 5 boards, 2 assists), Eugene (9 points, 0 assists, 3 blocks). Sacramento was led by Brown (20 points, 1 assists, a steal), Heath (7 points, 6 assists), Allen (6 points, 4 steals).
New Orleans jump to 20-29 and 14-12 at home with today's victory. They hold at #5 in the Southwest and stay at #11 overall in the Western Conference. Sacramento ended their winning streak at 6 games, and stand at 33-14. They remain at #2 in the Pacific and remain at #4 overall in the Western Conference.
