CVBL: Orlando Upends New York
Orlando did what nobody thought possible, derailing powerhouse New York in one of the season's big upsets. Orlando fans filled the streets after the win, setting off a party that lasted most of the night. "We showed those wimps who is boss," said one fan who appeared a little tipsy. "We'll kick them any time." Although few in the league would agree with such a comment, Orlando certainly did make a big impression on New York during their 108-103 win.
"I thought we had scouted them well, but Bob really surprised us," said losing coach Bob after the game. "He had his team executing better than they have all year, and they really outplayed us. This was no fluke - if they can play like that every week, they'll be a force to contend with." However, few in the league expect a performance like that from Orlando for a while, as the team has had problems with consistancy.
Orlando was led by Orr (6 points, 28 boards, 0 assists, a steal, a block), Underwood (23 points, a steal), Wright (23 points, 2 assists). New York was led by Powell (19 points, 17 boards, 1 assists, a block), Velazquez (19 points, a steal), Speight (14 points, 2 assists).
Orlando stand at 20-28 and 15-11 at home with this victory. They hold at #2 in the Southeast and advance to #9 overall in the Eastern Conference. New York halted their winning streak at 14 games, and fall to 36-10. They stay at #1 in the Atlantic and remain at #2 overall in the Eastern Conference.
