CVBL: Minnesota Coasts Past Portland

Walz was unstoppable today, leading Minnesota to a 120-97 win over Portland. "I've never seen anything like that," said Portland star Dobbs. "Walz just flat-out dominated, and there was nothing any of us could do about it." Agreed coach Bob, "He's an excellent talent with an excellent coach. I'm afraid that we'll be seeing more of him down the road."

Walz refused to get caught up in the excitement, however. "I just did what coach told me to do," he said. "And we couldn't have won without my teammates doing their best as well." While true, Walz certainly increased the margin of victory from a close call to a solid win.

Minnesota was led by Walz (14 points, 5 boards, 15 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks), Files (31 points, 9 boards, 1 assists), Jaramillo (16 points, 10 boards, 4 assists, 3 blocks). Portland was led by Dobbs (15 points, 12 assists, 3 steals), Woods (17 points, 3 blocks), Johnson (16 points, 5 boards, 0 assists, a steal).

Minnesota stand at 38-10 and 23-4 at home with the win. They hold at #1 in the Northwest and hold at #2 overall in the Western Conference. With the loss, Portland stand at 15-33. They remain at #3 in the Northwest and remain at #12 overall in the Western Conference.
