CVBL: Detroit Takes Easy Win over New York
In one of the most important games of the season for both teams, Detroit upstaged New York 116-95. Showing more glitter than a Brittany Spears concert, perfect Detroit execution, a brilliant game by Delgado, and impeccable play-calling by David Smith provided all the right ingredients for a big win.
Speight was key for New York, but after the game he looked like somebody had just run over his dog. "I thought we could do it. The whole game I was still thinking we were going to win. I guess that's the difference between thinking it and doing it. Give Detroit credit - they are nothing but class. I just feel sorry for coach Bob. He had us ready and we let him down."
Detroit was led by Delgado (19 points, 8 boards, 2 assists, a steal, 3 blocks), Kay (24 points), Fox (17 points, a block). New York was led by Speight (14 points, 8 assists, a steal), Mack (25 points, 2 blocks), Fuller (14 points, 2 blocks).
With today's win, Detroit stand at 38-11 and 21-5 at home. They stay at #1 in the Central and hold at #1 overall in the Eastern Conference. New York are now 20-28 with today's loss. They stay at #4 in the Atlantic and remain at #7 overall in the Eastern Conference.
