CVBL: Detroit Clobbers Washington
Detroit showed who was the better team tonight with a convincing 107-86 win over Washington. Although not exactly a blowout, Detroit coach David Smith and his players outplayed Washington from start to end. "I was hoping for a better outcome," said Washington coach Bob during a post-game interview. "But they just overpowered us, and there was nothing we could do to adjust. David Smith's team was more talented and better-prepared, and it would have taken quite a bit of luck for us to overcome that."
The loss was tough on Washington fans, who had expected great things from their team after some offseason moves. "I think reality is starting to sink in," said one team. "We didn't expect to see other teams outplaying us this badly, but Detroit sure made their point."
Detroit was led by Kay (34 points, 2 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks), Graham (23 points, a steal, 4 blocks), Gilliam (16 points, 3 assists, a steal). Washington was led by Griffin (9 points, 7 boards, 1 assists, 3 blocks), Hove (16 points), Jennings (6 points, 2 steals).
Detroit keep rolling with a winning streak of 9 games and jump to 42-5. They hold at #1 in the Central and stay at #1 overall in the Eastern Conference. Washington stand at 15-33 and 8-15 at home with this loss. They hold at #3 in the Southeast and hold at #12 overall in the Eastern Conference.
