CVBL: Golden State Stuns Atlanta 108-98
A superb game by Chapman stole the 108-98 win for Golden State over heavily-favored Atlanta. "Not much we could do to counter him today," said Atlanta coach Bob. "I mean, we tried just about everything to stop him to no avail."
Golden State coach Perez Suarez was thrilled with the win but realistic about his team. "To be honest, we all know that Atlanta is better than we are, and I'm not looking forward to playing them again - especially with revenge on their minds. But Chapman had the game of his life today, and we were able to come away with the huge win. Whether we deserved it or not, the a win is a win on the standings."
Golden State was led by Chapman (26 points, 21 boards, 4 assists, 2 steals, a block), Taylor (12 points, 5 boards, 13 assists, 2 steals), Richards (13 points, 10 boards, 1 assists, a block). Atlanta was led by Jackson (19 points, 11 boards, 2 assists, 3 blocks), Souza (21 points, 2 assists), Simon (20 points).
After this victory, Golden State jump to 9-38 and 9-15 at home. They stay at #5 in the Pacific and stay at #15 overall in the Western Conference. Atlanta drop to 28-21. They remain at #1 in the Southeast and stay at #3 overall in the Eastern Conference.
