CVBL: Philadelphia Takes Out Utah in a Big Win for Bob
A walk in the park for Utah turned into a nightmare, as Philadelphia pulled off the upset in today's showdown. As usual after a surprise loss, the finger pointing came after the game in the Utah locker room. "Coach didn't really bother preparing us for this game. We'd already been watching films of our next opponent," said Perkins.
Coach Young acknowledged that was true, but said "our next opponent is three times as good as Philadelphia. Of course we dedicate more time to preparing for them. I'm not faulting Perkins, but if the rest of the team had played as hard we'd have won this game easily. It was a lack of effort, not preparation."
Philadelphia coach Bob could care less whose fault it was. "We're thrilled to get the win. They can make all the excuses they want, but we were the better team out there today."
Philadelphia was led by Eatmon (24 points, 0 assists, a steal), Blunt (11 points, 9 boards, 2 assists, a block), Austin (12 points, a steal, a block). Utah was led by Perkins (14 points, 5 boards, 3 assists, 5 blocks), Robinson (19 points, 7 boards, 2 assists, a block), Patton (15 points, 4 assists, a steal, 2 blocks).
With the win, Philadelphia jump to 32-17. They stay at #1 in the Atlantic and remain at #2 overall in the Eastern Conference. Utah ended their tear at 7 games, and drop to 37-11 and 21-2 at home. They stay at #1 in the Northwest and hold at #3 overall in the Western Conference.
