CVBL: Orlando Stumbles, Detroit Win
Detroit fans watched in amazement, as their team was dominated throughout the game but came away with the 91-82 upset of Orlando. A frustrated Orlando coach Bob was interviewed after the game. "I kept thinking that we'd be able to come back and pull out the win. I mean we did everything right and controlled the flow of the game, but ended up just short countless times. Even as things wound down I was confident because we were so dominant out there. But eventually I saw that the better team wasn't going to get the win today."
Detroit coach David Smith agreed. "I've been on the other end of this plenty of times, too. It's frustrating to watch when you've clearly got the better team out there but can't get the win. As for today, we'll consider ourselves lucky and be more than happy to get the win."
Detroit was led by Newman (12 points, 13 boards, 3 assists, a steal, 5 blocks), Delgado (17 points, 14 boards, 3 assists, a steal), Fox (19 points, 0 assists, 2 steals, a block). Orlando was led by Buchanan (29 points, 0 assists), Boyd (12 points, 8 boards, 0 assists), Brigmon (13 points, a steal).
Detroit ended their slump at 5 games, and are now 26-21 and 16-8 at home. They remain at #1 in the Central and stay at #3 overall in the Eastern Conference. Orlando halted their winning streak at 6 games, and fall to 33-15. They hold at #1 in the Southeast and remain at #2 overall in the Eastern Conference.
