CVBL: Sacramento Steals Spotlight from Denver
A collapse by Denver led to a 89-77 beating by Sacramento, increasing the pressure on the Denver coach. Bob had to suffer through the game as his players were ineffective and his former fans were heckling. To make matters worse, the team was dominated by hated Sacramento, a bad thing for any Denver coach.
"That ---- man can't win a ---- game if his ---- life depended on it!" screamed one disgruntled fan, who is obviously tired of Denver losing ways. While Denver deny it, rumors about that they have already started a search for a new coach who can turn this franchise around.
It was just more fuel for the fire today when Sacramento took Denver behind the woodpile for a 89-77 whooping. Although Vegas was predicting a Sacramento win, many people believed the Denver certainly had the talent to knock them off. Phillips did everything in his power to help his coach, but in the end Davis led the Sacramento to victory.
"You hate to see somebody with Bob's character go through this. It's just a sad sight," commented Sacramento coach Bob. "We're obviously delighted to get the victory over such a worthy adversary in a big rivalry game like this, and all I can do is credit my players, my assistants, and our fans."
Sacramento was led by Davis (19 points, 11 boards, 2 assists, a steal), Sherrill (21 points, 5 assists, a steal), Stanford (5 points, 21 boards, 1 assists, 3 blocks). Denver was led by Phillips (14 points, 12 boards, 1 assists), White (7 points, 9 boards, 2 assists, a block), Mcclendon (6 points, 6 assists, a steal).
Sacramento jump to 40-16. They stay at #2 in the Pacific and remain at #4 overall in the Western Conference. Denver stand at 34-22 and 18-11 at home with this loss. They remain at #2 in the Northwest and hold at #5 overall in the Western Conference.
