CVBL: Denver Over Phoenix

Phoenix failed to make the most of their chances, coming up short 80-75 against Denver in today's contest. "They got a gift, no question in my mind," grumbled Phoenix coach Bob. "We outplayed them today, but just couldn't come up with the big plays when we were threatening to score. I just can't wait until the rematch; we'll show them who's really the best."

Denver coach Bob saw things a little differently. "I'm proud of our defensive effort today. They avoided giving up the big plays, and really came through in the key situations. Bob may blame his offense, but they'd have been able to score if they didn't have good opposition."

Denver was led by Davis (18 points, 12 boards, 1 assists, 3 blocks), Wise (5 points, 16 assists, 2 steals), White (12 points, 5 boards, 2 assists, a block). Phoenix was led by Celaya (26 points, 6 boards, 4 assists, a block), Hunt (10 points, 17 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Mercer (8 points, 3 steals).

With this win, Denver stand at 26-29. They stay at #5 in the Northwest and move up to #10 overall in the Western Conference. Phoenix fall to 28-29 and 17-11 at home with today's loss. They stay at #3 in the Pacific and stay at #9 overall in the Western Conference.
