CVBL: Philadelphia Comes up Big Over Atlanta
Philadelphia star Simmons led his team to a win today in a key game against Atlanta. Although standings were at stake, the game was as much about bragging rights as anything. The teams have a long history against each other that began when coaches Bob and Bob traded insults after an apparently intentional injury to one of Bob's players. Although Bob has long denied that there was any malicious intent, Philadelphia fans don't believe it and turn out in large numbers whenever Atlanta comes to town.
Philadelphia was led by Simmons (22 points, 10 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks), Roberson (6 points, 5 boards, 11 assists, 2 steals), Franklin (23 points, 1 assists, 2 blocks). Atlanta was led by Mendez (22 points, 5 boards, 0 assists, 3 steals), Moore (18 points, 8 boards, 1 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Contreras (11 points, 3 assists, a steal, a block).
Philadelphia are now 33-22 and 19-11 at home with this victory. They remain at #2 in the Atlantic and hold at #7 overall in the Eastern Conference. Atlanta fall to 23-34 with today's defeat. They stay at #4 in the Southeast and hold at #12 overall in the Eastern Conference.
