CVBL: Toronto Beats the Odds
Toronto overcame huge odds and a great Charlotte team to pull off a big upset today. The game begin with a yawn, as nobody in the stadium except for the Toronto player and coach Bob thought the game would turn out this way. But as the game progressed and Toronto stayed with Charlotte and started pulling ahead, the electricity in the air began to build. By the end, fans of both sides knew they had witnessed one of the great performances ever.
Even Charlotte coach Bob was impressed. "Normally in an upset, the favorite has to really screw things up. We didn't play magnificently, but we didn't play badly either. You just have to give credit to Bob and his team. Lillard played especially well for them; I don't think anyone really expected that sort of game from him."
Toronto was led by Lillard (18 points, 14 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Davis (11 points, 13 boards, 3 assists, a block), Price (10 points). Charlotte was led by White (26 points, 2 steals, a block), Gish (22 points, 0 assists), Plungis (11 points, 9 boards, 1 assists, a block).
