CVBL: Detroit Over Dallas 103-100
A solid outing by Kay led Detroit to a 103-100 win over Dallas. "Take away Kay, and we'd have won this thing," said Dallas coach Bob. "It was a very close game most of the way, and he was the one that put Detroit over the top. I thought we had the right game plan and executed well. What's sad is that I don't know what we'd do differently next time, except for hoping for a more mortal performance by him."
Detroit coach David Smith was happy for the win, but concerned about the team's play. "I didn't think this was a very good team win. Our players seemed tempted to sit around and watch Kay do his stuff. That was enough for the win today, but on another day maybe Kay will be injured or our opponents can counter him, and we'll need the rest of the players to step up as well."
Detroit was led by Kay (31 points, 4 assists), Delgado (12 points, 12 boards, 1 assists), Fox (14 points). Dallas was led by Thompson (26 points, 16 boards, 2 assists, 4 blocks), Garcia (14 points, 6 boards, 0 assists, 3 blocks), Mcadoo (11 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks).
With the victory, Detroit improve to 43-13. They stay at #1 in the Central and remain at #1 overall in the Eastern Conference. Dallas stand at 25-29 and 13-13 at home after the defeat. They remain at #3 in the Southwest and drop to #11 overall in the Western Conference.
