CVBL: Houston Stuns Denver 104-100
Denver collapsed today, allowing Houston to pull off a huge upset. The final score of 104-100 was less surprising than the Denver performance, one of the worst in the last two seasons by the team. "They look like they're on vacation playing a pickup game," said one of the commentators of the game. "Do they even care that this game matters?" Indeed, Davidson was the only Denver player that did well.
After the game, Houston coach Bob was as stunned as the reporters. "Well, I didn't really think we had a chance. I figured we'd go in, put up the best opposition we could, and try to come out without getting pounded too badly. But after I saw the way they were playing, I knew we had a chance to pull it off. I told Jackson that this was our chance to win the big one, and that he needed to rally the troops. That's exactly what he did, and we were able to come out on top."
Houston was led by Jackson (24 points, 9 boards, 2 assists, a block), Howard (20 points, 13 boards, 1 assists), Mackey (22 points). Denver was led by Davidson (13 points, 2 steals), Beard (25 points, 2 steals), Simmons (10 points, 14 boards, 0 assists, 4 blocks).
Houston jump to 26-30 and 15-12 at home after the win. They hold at #5 in the Southwest and stay at #8 overall in the Western Conference. Denver drop to 41-17. They stay at #1 in the Northwest and remain at #2 overall in the Western Conference.
