CVBL: Brooklyn Over Atlanta in Overtime
Atlanta nearly pulled off the upset, but were beaten by Brooklyn 136-131 in overtime. Although most expected an easy Brooklyn win, Atlanta came out strong and at times looked like they would pull off the surprise. But the magic didn't last forever, and the better team prevailed in the end. Said Brooklyn coach Bob, "I've got to give [Atlanta coach] Bob credit for getting his team ready to play today. They could have easily given up given the long odds, but they played great and forced us to play our best to finish with the win."
Bob had mixed feelings afterwards. "On the one hand, I'm thrilled that we were able to be competitive against a great team like Brooklyn. On the other, it's tough to lose after being so close."
Brooklyn was led by Owens (36 points, 5 assists, 3 blocks), Jeanlouis (21 points, 5 assists, 4 blocks), Jackson (6 points, 2 steals). Atlanta was led by Wade (25 points, 10 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks), Conner (23 points, 9 boards, 4 assists, a steal), Contreras (24 points, 4 assists).
Brooklyn stand at 38-18 and 23-8 at home. They hold at #1 in the Atlantic and hold at #2 overall in the Eastern Conference. Atlanta drop to 24-35. They stay at #4 in the Southeast and remain at #12 overall in the Eastern Conference.
