CVBL: New Orleans Over Phoenix in Overtime
Despite being heavy favorites in this afternoon's contest, New Orleans had to go into overtime to beat Phoenix. "A win's a win," said Coach Bob after the game. "At the end of the season, that's all that matters." His players were less content with their performance. "If we'd played someone good, we wouldn't have gotten this outcome," said star Obryant after the game. "We got lucky today with who we had on the schedule." Obryant was one of few bright points for New Orleans, and more than one of his teammates thanked him for pulling their rear ends out of the fire. "As bad as it was out there, we have lost if it weren't for him," said one player.
New Orleans was led by Obryant (16 points, 13 boards, 0 assists, 4 blocks), Ziegler (23 points, 2 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Brown (8 points, a steal). Phoenix was led by Celaya (37 points, 6 boards, 3 assists, a steal, a block), Hunt (13 points, 14 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals, 6 blocks), Dupree (27 points, 8 boards, 3 assists, 3 steals).
New Orleans stand at 25-32 with the victory. They remain at #5 in the Southwest and stay at #13 overall in the Western Conference. Phoenix fall to 29-30 and 18-12 at home. They stay at #3 in the Pacific and stay at #9 overall in the Western Conference.
